Mega Generation Next

Keigh and I left the Multiply Shopping Party early to go the MEGA's event: Generation Next at Prive, the Fort. It was the launch of MegaStyle.ph and InsidePinoyShowbiz.ph.

and yes, Tim and Divine again! we also spotted Tim in the multiply event, I guess Divine went straight to Prive after the Freeway event.

Prive was jampacked with celebrites, and mostly people from the fashion industry like designers, stylists, models, editors, etc..

The event started at 9pm bu we arrived at 11 already so we missed the programme except for the last part- the big announcement. I know something you all don't know( for now), lol

as Sari Yap always says at the end of every episode, "It only takes one great team to conquer a  Mega challenge, and that's Mega's top fashion crew"

The winners of Mega Fashion Crew was announced!  as much as I want to mention their names here,I won't because I want you all to watch the part2 of the finale episode later tonight! I want you to find it out yourselves, so gow! watch na! later at 7pm on etc!

here's a teaser:
A FULL STYLE COMBAT FOR THE GRAND FINALE

Sixty contenders originally battled it out for the race to become MEGA’s Top Fashion Crew. The ending is near and the final challenges will play the most crucial role in the lives of the contestants.

The last ten has bested all the past challenges but only 5 will be chosen. For the final two challenges, the contestants have to release all their creativity and efforts to win.

The two remaining teams have to first produce a motion editorial. The photographers have to execute their ideas not just in print, but through a video that will establish their edge. The fashion stylists, make-up artists and hair stylists have to produce the look that will work and highlight the photographer’s vision. Last, the model must not just pose for the camera but act out the scenes to complete the motion editorial.

The final challenge is one of the main highlights that will solidify one’s mark in the fashion industry.

The team will be tasked to produce a MEGA magazine cover. Being the best fashion magazine, it has always been a great pressure to put together the look of the cover. The cover must convey the content and feel of the entire magazine. The challengers will know first-hand what it takes and whatmust be done to perfectly execute the glossy cover of a magazine.

This is the final episode that everyone shouldn’t miss!

Everyone has witnessed the struggles and triumphs of everyone through all the challenges. Still, friendships and bonds were formed in the course of the competition. Their skills have been tested with their creativity improved. Now, it all boils down to the final judgment for the last ten finalists.

The question is, who makes the final cut to becoming MEGA’s Top Fashion Crew?

anyway, here's a very cool video of the event by move.ph

Multiply Shopping Party

Right after the Freeway X Manansala event, we went straight to White Space for the Multiply Shopping Party. We arrived late so we weren't able to watch the fashion show. There were so many people. Bloggers, merchants, and many other personalities were there, lots of food and great music too! Thanks to JL Ladrido for putting me in the guest list :)

I so love this group pic! (grabbed from Lloyda)

Freeway x Manansala

During the National Bloggers Event day (chos), the first event I was supposed to attend was the MTV Exit event but unfortunately, my dysmenorrhea was killing me so I had to skip it and stayed in bed. When I felt better, I went to Status Mag's office in Makati to pick up my invites for fashion week, (thanks Ed!) then I went straight to the launch of Freeway's Holiday 2011 collection, which is the sixth installment of the National Artist Collectors’ Series honoring Vicente Manansala, National Artist for Visual Arts.

I personally like the idea of fusing art and fashion since these are the things I'm really into. Since 2009, FREEWAY has been taking Philippine Arts and Culture to the younger generation with its Freeway loves Art: National Artist Collectors’ Series, making Fashionalism more hip and relevant.  This creative infusion of fashion and art gave birth to these well-loved series that featured National Artists Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang KiuKok (Visual Arts), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature), Ramon Valera (Fashion Design) and the first living NA in the series, F. Sionil Jose (Literature).

For me, working in the fashion industry is one of the things I treasure and love. I don't even consider it as work, it's more like a hobby because I really enjoy what I'm doing and it never stressed me out. I may get tired but at the end of the day, I feel blessed and fulfilled.

Another thing I love about it is being able to dress up! I dislike boring corporate wear or uniforms that other industry requires. Being an artist, dressing up is also my way of express myself so I won't let anyone restrict me with the clothes I wear.

I know a lot of girls/beckies would really want to enter the fashion industry and guess what, here's your first step! fashionintern.ph provides the listings of fashion internships here in the Philippines. I find this website very helpful not only for those who wants to enter the industry but also for people who are already there and looking for inters whom they can share the experience with. FashionIntern.ph helps designers, stylists, publications and the likes to look for interns.

There are a lot of internships that they offer:  AdvertisingAccounting Design Editorial MarketingMedia,ProductionRetail & MerchandisingStyling and TV Internships. The fashion industry has a wide range of careers depending on what you love doing.

Your career in fashion starts here!

guess who?

I placed this sticky note on my mom's mirror

I was wide awake last night transferring contacts and data to my laptop. At the same time, I was also waiting for MyUse (online grades portal of UST). I was able to access my account at 2:30am, with fingers crossed, I was wishing I'd get a sem ave of at least 1.63, my target ave for first sem to be able to graduate as a cum laude. and as I view my grades:

my sem ave was beyond my target grade!! I was so happy seeing this! Thank God for everything! Now, I just have to maintain this to be a cum laude! "Dear Ma, papaakyatin kita sa stage! mark my words!"

I am really overwhelmed. I actually thought I need to strive harder this coming second sem to be able to reach my goal. but I was wrong :) I also computed my target average for second sem: 1.89, I don't need to be a dean's lister anymore to be in the cum laude list, but of course, I won't stop there, I will still do my best and be a dean's lister again. ayoko magpaka-kampante. who knows, I'm sure my last sem in college will be hard as hell so I really need to strive hard and I'm really gonna make my momma proud!

anyway, the reason why I'm tranferring contacts is because my phone is dying. I think the battery broke, It won't work unless it's plugged and charging.

dead phone

But I'm now using another one, this is my dad's phone. he gave it to me already. We exchanged, he'll buy a new battery nalang for my old phone.
This N5250 is a touch screen phone-which I am not used to. I already got used to a Qwerty keypad so when I first held this phone, I was having a hard time and I am so sloooow in texting. But when I accidentally tilted the phone, keypads transformed to Qwerty! yay. I didn't know about that :)
I'm still exploring it though.

By the way, (maybe)you all know that I am raising funds for my thesis expenses (fabrics, labor fee, and other materials needed). Thanks to who shared my "ad" I have been receiving emails from clients, and have been working on it these past few days.
Also, to be able to raise money, I will be selling these stuffs online!
you can simply help me graduate by buying!
Thank you so much!

MEGA Fashion Crew’s Finale (Part 1)

The Final Stages to Becoming the Best
The first screening of the Grand Finale

Weaknesses were overcome, challenges were surpassed, and two teams have survived.

MEGA, the Philippines’ best fashion magazine, has brought out only the best people deserving to be
part of the fashion industry. Sixty contenders initially made the cut but only ten remain for the grand
finale. With only two episodes left, the battle to reach the top grows more intense.

The last episode gave a glimpse of the journey to becoming the last two teams of the MEGA Fashion
Crew. Everyone saw the hardships and victory that all the challengers went through. The remaining
teams have reached this far. To prove that they’re the best, a tougher round of challenges will be in
store for them.

Fashion Army

Vanguards

Will it be the Vanguards or the Fashion Army?

Four challenges will be given during the first round. Each challenge will highlight the skills of each
member from the hair stylist, make-up artist, fashion stylist, photographer and model. Teams will put
together a photo layout for L’Oreal Paris, a beauty shot for Maybelline, a fashion page for FILA and an
ad for ZenZest. Each member will lead the teams through the different challenges, highlighting their
niche in the industry.

Final details for the hair shoot
Prepping for the beauty shot

Watch as special guests top model Borgy Manotoc and fashion enthusiast and columnist Tim Yap add
the extra flair as they become part of the challenges in this episode.

Resident Judges Raya Mananquil, Avel Bacudio, Sari Yap - Ana Abad Santos of FILA - Resident Mentors Borge Aloba, Archie Tolentino

The four challenges will bring out the different strengths of each member. In the first part of the
grand finale, everyone will know the reason why the remaining challengers are still in the game.
Their edge in the industry will be further revealed; the creative skills of each will be tested.

But in the end, only one team will be crowned MEGA’s Top Fashion Crew.

Are you one of the winners of the access pass to Generation Next? If yes, then see you on tuesday!
Thanks again to MEGA's social marketing assoc, Kris Andres and MEGA's executive creative director, Suki Salvador for the invite! I can't wait for the finale!

Generation MEGA Season 2: MEGA Fashion Crew is created for television by the MEGA Publishing Group.
