DIY project for Fashion Design Class
We were cramming for finals (in all of the subjects) so we were really pressured. For our fashion design class, we were tasked to create something from recycled clothing. I haggled for old stuffs in my closet and sewed everything the night before the deadline. (PANIC!) I didn't even sleep, well what's new. haha

My reaction to the Tricia Gosingtian Interview at NYFW:
I didn't know about this issue til my friend told me awhile ago. I wasn't aware that this video has been going around tumblr. It was just last night that I was able to watch it.
I was actually envious the moment I knew Tricia was given the chance to be at NYFW.
After watching, I had read several comments about it (on youtube). My first reaction was negative but I don't want to be one-sided so I didn't say anything first. (I tweeted that.. )I wanted to hear Tricia's side regarding this matter. She actually replied:

I didn't say Filipinos lacked style. I just said we aren't *that* fashion-forward as a country, which I think is true for a lot of reasons since we have limited resources (young designers I know have a hard time finding good textile and materials), have a lot of issues standing out in the crowd because of conservative culture, and our weather doesn't permit us to dress up (hello to lazy clothes and flipflops). It takes ages for trends to reach us, and when they do, it's not like people actually follow them. There were so many things that were asked and so many things I said but videos can only show us so much. It's the same issue when people get interviewed in publications and the writers only quote certain parts of it. I'm no authority in fashion and I never said I was. It's not that I don't support fashion in the Philippines. I was just being completely honest.Well, regarding that "Filipinos are not *that* fashion-forward" thing, She has a point. and as what she said, she's just being honest. but what I didnt like on what she said is that it seems like she's so self-centered, putting herself above everyone. She was there to represent the Philippines and not to tell the world that she gets so much attention whenever she posts photos of her wearing her so-called japanese fashion. And FTR, she's not the ONLY one who wears that kind of style, I've seen a lot.
I've read a comment that says "It's not the whole fashion-forward thing that makes this a big issue. It's about herself putting above everyone else. She didn't really have to brag herself getting a lot of attention because her style is influenced by her so-called Japanese fashion. She just needs to maintain a low profile especially that there are people who really do admire her."
I totally agree. ang laki na ng ulo ni Tricia, it's disappointing. and because of that. I admire her LESS.
(This reaction might be late because the issue started 2 weeks ago. I am not a Tricia-hater. I'm just stating my opinion here. )
Retreat!

We had our retreat last week at Caleruega, Batangas. Very late post. and yes my blog posts are always late because I have to wait for the photos from my friends since I lost my cam. :|

On this day of your life, Tatiana, we believe God wants you to know ... that all emotions grow in size when practiced regularly.
Practice love to have more love, practice hate to have more hate. Practice kindness to have more kindness, practice depression to have more depression. The choice is yours as always.

with my artista-friend, Flerika :))
